THE BIG TOY
Located in the Jacksonville Community Park

The most ambitious project ever undertaken by our Club was our involvement in the acquisition and development of the Jacksonville Community Park. The centerpiece of that development was the Big Toy.

The unit was shipped to us in pieces from Tacoma, Washington, at a cost of $15,000.00. Through a tremendous number of Kiwanian man-hours, the unit was erected in the northeast corner of the park near the Chamber of Commerce building. After the Big Toy was completed, our Club held one of its regular meetings under the nearby trees. In a dedication ceremony, held on June 23, 1983, the equipment was presented to the mayor of Jacksonville who accepted it for the city.

The Big Toy has been a very popular attraction for children of all ages and continues to be the centerpiece of an active life in the Jacksonville Community Park.
