- The WILLIAM C. DEEM/KIWANIS
SCIENCE AWARD was established in 2001 by the Deem family and
is administered annually by the Kiwanis Club of Jacksonville,
Illinois.
-
- The recipient is selected
by Science Department faculty members at Jacksonville High School.
The following criteria was established by that group for determining
the recipient:

taken
40% grade point average in

a declared major in any science field.
-
- If scores are close, teachers
who instructed the students under consideration vote to break
the tie. The recipient's name is forwarded to the Jacksonville
Kiwanis Club which prepares the award.
After the selection process
has been completed, the winner and his/her Jacksonville High
School sponsor are invited to a Club meeting for presentation
