KIWANIS GROVE
Located just north of Nichols Park

In 1964 our Club planted the first 25 of fifty trees on the shore of Lake Mauvaisterre opposite the entrance to Nichols Park. This project was designed to be a living recognition of the 50th anniversary of Kiwanis International. Twenty five more tree were planted in 1965. In one night, vandals cut down several of the trees. These trees were replaced and a sign erected in 1966.

After over 30 years, Kiwanis Grove has developed into a wonderful shaded area perfect for picnicking, fishing or just relaxing.

In 2002, the Public & Business Affairs Committee chaired by John Heinzman planned and executed a project to add a bench and rest area to the grove. Below are photos from that project.

In 2005, an Eagle Scout project conducted by Life Scout Michael Stanley resulted in a fishing dock for disabled people being installed in Kiwanis Grove.
