On November 2, 1996, the Kiwanis Noon Club responded to the request from the Graham School at Lafayette Center for assistance in their playground project. The equipment had been purchased but the manpower necessary to erect the structure was not available.

A surprisingly chilly morning greeted the volunteers as they worked for several hours to assemble the project. The playground has been in use since that time by the special education students who attend the Graham School.
