- We meet
every Thursday noon at Hamilton's Catering, located at 110 N.
East Street. Our meeting is held in the Fireside Room on the
second floor. Kiwanians typically arrive to eat between 11:30
a.m. and noon.
-
- At 12:10 p.m. our president hits the
bell signifying the start of our meeting. We sing one verse of
America, recite the Kiwanis Flag Salute and one of our Kiwanians
offers an invocation.
-
- We honor our day's guests at this time
and a period of announcements, recognitions and presentations
follows.
- On occasion we are pleased to induct
a new member and this ceremony is performed by one of our past
presidents.
-
- Our most recent new member is recognized.
We then open the floor for our Good News program where Kiwanians
and guests may pay a dollar and report anything they wish to.
This is always a fun and humorous, very popular portion of the
program. Funds collected go into an account to help pay travel
expenses for our officers attending the International Convention.
-
- Next we pull out our Kiwanis songbooks
and enjoy singing a pair of old favorite numbers, accompanied
by our pianist Dorothy Amare.
|
- At each meeting we provide a special
program given by one of the community leaders, volunteers or
groups. In the past year we have enjoyed everything from singing
groups to student theatre performers, bell choirs, educational
personnel, Jacksonville and South Jacksonville political leaders,
state and federal officials and much more.
-
- We close our meetings with the Pledge
of Allegiance.
-
- We encourage you to stop by any Thursday
and join us for a great time and great fellowship. The Kiwanis
Club of Jacksonville looks forward to hosting you the next time
you stop in our city.
