In 1950, the Kiwanis Pancake & Sausage Day program was born in Jacksonville. Staged at the old Southern Aire Restaurant on south Main Street, the project served 1,585 people and netted a profit of over $1,200.00 for the Club. The event moved briefly to Cosgriff's cafe in downtown Jacksonville before finding a permanent home.

Today the event is staged at McClelland Dining Hall on the campus of MacMurray College during the school's spring break. Over the course of half a century, this event has grown larger and more successful each year.
