Our Club's support of higher education through scholarships dates back to 1954 when an annual award of $250.00 was established for presentation to "a worthy girl who intends to enroll at MacMurray College." At the time, MacMurray was limited to those of the female gender. The first recipient was Miss Laura Smith.

In 1966 a scholarship was also provided to an Illinois College student. The scholarship amounts were raised to $350.00. Jacelyn Spangenberg of I.C. and Robert Johnson of MacMurray were that year's recipients.
