Comunity Service Award
The First A. Wadsworth Applebee Community Service Award
was presented to Timothy W. Chipman by Kiwanian Hobart R. Hinderliter.
 
A. Wadsworth Applebee followed his father into Kiwanis in 1946 and served as District Governor in 1959, the only member of our club ever to hold this high office.
 
To honor his memory, the Jacksonville Kiwanis Club established the A. Wadsworth Applebee Community Service Award in his nam. The award is presented annually to recognize a young adult between the ages of 21 and 35, who has demonstrated devotion to civic volunteer service, thereby benefitting the Jacksonville area.
 
A plaque bearing the names of all the recipients hangs on the wall just outside the City Council Chambers in the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
